CHILD-CENTRED PLAY THERAPY
In Child-Centre Play Therapy, your child will use play to explore and understand their experiences, thoughts, and feelings. As their therapist, I observe their play to gain insights into how they see the world and respond in ways that support their emotional growth, independence, self-regulation, and relationships with themselves and others. Play Therapy helps children develop new coping skills and learn how to manage challenging behaviours in a positive way.

So what is Child-Centred Play Therapy ?

Child-Centred Play Therapy (CCPT) is an evidence-based therapeutic intervention designed for children aged 3-10. Just as talk-based therapy helps adults process emotions, CCPT allows children to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences through their most natural form of communication: play. In CCPT, children lead the play, while a post-graduate trained Play Therapist creates a safe, nurturing space that fosters emotional expression and self-discovery.

Using toys and creative activities, children can communicate in a way that feels comfortable to them, whether it's expressing difficult emotions or working through challenges. The therapist’s role is to guide the process non-judgmentally, ensuring that the child feels supported as they process complex feelings.

CCPT is particularly effective for children experiencing anxiety, trauma, behavioural issues, or significant changes such as family transitions. It helps them build emotional resilience, develop problem-solving skills, and gain a better understanding of themselves. This developmentally appropriate approach encourages healthy coping mechanisms, supporting children as they navigate life’s challenges.
