The Descriptor Cards invite children to explore the words we use to describe ourselves and others.
 
Descriptors help children understand that people have many different qualities, interests and ways of being. These cards gently introduce descriptive words that support children to reflect on who they are, what they enjoy, and how they see themselves within their world.
 
Through conversation and reflection, children begin to recognise that these qualities can change, grow and develop over time. Naming positive descriptors helps children build language around identity and develop a stronger sense of self.
 
The cards can be used during conversations, reflection moments, play sessions, or group discussions. They offer thoughtful prompts that help children describe their ideas, qualities and experiences in ways that support identity development.
 
Grounded in strengths-based practice and the Equichild Framework, the Descriptor Cards support educators, therapists and facilitators to nurture children’s developing self-awareness and positive identity.
