The Courage Step Cards invite children to explore the small, brave steps that help them try new things, face challenges and grow in confidence.
Rather than expecting children to take big leaps, these cards gently remind them that courage often begins with one small step. Whether it is trying something new, asking for help, speaking up, or having another go after a mistake, each step helps children build resilience and belief in their own abilities.
Through reflection and conversation, children learn that courage is not about never feeling unsure — it is about continuing forward, even when something feels a little hard.
The cards can be used during conversations, reflection moments, play sessions, or group discussions. They offer supportive prompts that help children recognise their brave moments and encourage them to keep trying.
Grounded in strengths-based practice and the Equichild Framework, the Courage Step Cards support educators, therapists and facilitators to nurture confidence, perseverance and a positive sense of self.
